Last summer, Laurel Cooley saw a hurting community and decided to do something to help. She founded the organization Everyone’s Mom with the mission statement “Loving our children, becoming the village.” Cooley went to the schools during lunch periods everyday to offer kids someone to talk to.
When the COVID-19 shut down started, Cooley realized that many of the students she had built relationships with were food insecure. She began collecting and delivering food and toiletry items to families with school age children in Huron who “needed a little extra help”.
Cooley said, “we don’t want anyone to feel like there’s not help out there.” Since March, she has served 30-40 families, making around 6 deliveries per week.
The city would like to thank Everyone’s Mom and Laurel for all she does for our community! If you would like to donate you can contact Laurel at (440) 222-5288 or drop donations off at 119 Williams St.
