Crews are finalizing the construction schedule and layout for the upcoming Safe Routes to School sidewalk project on Cleveland Road West.
The project includes installation of a new sidewalk along the southern portion of Cleveland Road West from Rye Beach Road to Jim Campbell Blvd. The project is slated to start in earnest August 2nd and has an estimated timeframe of 2 months.
Due to the nature of the work, the eastbound lane of Cleveland Road will be restricted during the duration of the project. Traffic will be detoured around utilizing Route 2. The crew will be shutting down the road in 1,000 ft. stretches in a delineated work zone each day. We apologize for any inconvenience during the project, but it’s a short-term necessity in order to improve the long-term pedestrian safety along the corridor.
If you have any questions about the project, call City Hall and ask for the Engineering Department.
Thank you to our partners on this project to improve the safety of the kids in our community!
